CAPE TOWN FASHION WEEK ROCKS THE CITY!

It came as no surprise that Neon Green was a firm favourite with the cheerful crowd at Michelle Ludek's show on Friday afternoon, and without doubt, the venue roared with applause. Much to my delight, since I spent some time in Europe in the last summer, and obviously enjoyed the advantage of a preview of things and trends come to South Africa, and some pre-summer shopping!. Since we are one season behind, regular travelling abroad does have it's advantage! A Lot of bright Orange, Cobalt blue and Neon Green was seen in Michelle's collection, and her new range of complimentary shoes was equally well received! Like before, her entire collection represented comfort and femininity without compromising on style.

The evening did not go by without spending time doing some serious people watching in between shows! Sophistication reigned supreme, and most females were dressed with strong individual style with a lot of emphasis on Neon and a multitude of pop's of Orange, a firm favourite. Black cemented itself firmly into the scene and presented a stylish and elegant image of finesse. I was rather flattered that my over sized embroidered clutch bag received so much attention and envy, yet a little back staged by it's overwhelming beauty, with all lens openings clearly only focused on this stunning accessory of mine,  with no consideration for my shoes! Of course the bag was chosen to compliment my two toned shoes, of which only one was worn since my left foot was still in a plaster cast! (Did I mention my penchant for killer heels before?) I soon realised that my bag over shadowed the shoes, and dominated my carefully assembled look!

Altogether, Cape Town put it's best foot forward, looking forward to next year's Fashion Week!

Having just entered the Safari Style competition on Polyvore, and having looked at the other entries, I once again came to realize that style is about more than fashion. One cannot go on safari sitting pretty in a flimsy little frock, waving about in the cool breezy bushveld air and being so consumed with the cold that you perhaps miss out on spotting a cheeta, stalking it's prey!

When you are driving about in a safari vehicle, you are out in the bush, and has to dress for the occasion. Firstly, you are tracking wild animals, and not sitting in the frontrow at a fashion show! You can still flaunt your style, just don't forget where you are! Adjust your outfit accordingly, and snug up against the breeze with a parka and a scarf around the neck, there can be no better opportunity to wear animal print. Subdued colours dominate in the bush, and is moste suited if you do not want to be spotted first. You are there to view wild animals in there natural habitat, so bear in mind that bright colours might just be to obvious, and cause you to be seen long before you would see that buffalo!
Fortunately for you, rhinos do not have good eyesight!

Indulge in your most extravagant jersey leopard print, or snuggle up in a snood. Dont forget the shades and off course, your camera- sure you would like to be snapped in you best safari outfit with a big cat lurking from behind!

So long, African Queen!

WELCOME BACK LE PEPLUM!

They say history repeats itself. Well, the peplum is living proof of this, since it has once again seen a revival, back from the 40's and the 80's. It comes in all forms, flairs, folded back or pleated. It looks equally at home on a skirt or a top, and remarkably elegant dressed up with jeans and high heels. A key piece for the season, short or tall, there is a peplum for all!

Happy planning girls, looking forward to Cape Town Fashion week coming up soon!
