The culotte has come and gone, and the current version has seen a number of new styles, above the knee, below the knee or right down to the bottom, straight down or wide legs, allowing all body types to wear it, be it short or tall. The culotte was rather hot in the 80's when we sported it with platform heels and bell sleeved tops. The pleats make this pair quite bulky and flamboyant, and if you dress it up with a rather loud jacket the way I did, it's just the right look for a morning wedding or fancy occasion. I prefer dressing it down for the office by adding a simple crisp White shirt with minimal accessories to give an edge. How do you sport the trend? I think I'll keep this for a while, in spite of it's almost apparent demise, a trend that becomes a "go to" item in my closet.... add some killer heels and you're off to clinch the deal.

I'll bet these look even more beautiful when you walk! You use cool neutrals and mauve and gray and taupe better than anyone. You should write a book about that! Really a lovely fall outfit for you!
ReplyDeleteI had a wonderful pair of black,ponte knit gauchos, cut fairly close with a perfectly fitted bolero to match ...not a touch of ornament, and I'm sorry it's long gone. I wore it with tall boots underneath, and felt very dashing.
Far out culottes. Love these. But this pair is in a class all by itself, especially the way you've styled them here.

ReplyDeleteMy husband hates culottes,so I keep a distance from this fashion item. But I will admit that the one you are wearing in these photos, are great. They don't come close to the ones my husband hates. These are just fabulous. Great idea to dress the trousers down with a white shirt. But indeed very good for a wedding or so with the beautiful jacket.
